Hello,

Welcome to our lives. We are Mission South, a three-piece roots rock and blues trio from Washington, D.C. comprised of three childhood friends that trace our musical beginnings back to the Wood Acres Elementary School Band. We all played different instruments then, and Dan still maintains his trombone skills, but it was the first step in what we hope to be a lifelong journey of making music together. It's hard to say when the band really started, as we were always hanging out and jamming throughout middle and high school, but somewhere around the 10th grade we adopted the name Mission South (an allegory for finding your place in the world) when we began to write our first tunes. While much has changed since then, even our first tunes reflect our goal of creating music that contains as much intellect to contemplate as it does rhythm to move to. Fast forward two EPs, five years, a hand full of house parties, and an unaccountable number of ridiculous tales, and you find us......well, at an interesting point in the road: we're third year college students each studying at separate universities. This means we're not practicing, recording, and on the road everyday as we would like to be. But, in a year's time we will be, so for now we ask only for your patience, and to come see us in the time that we are together.

So, now that we've gotten past the formalities, this is what we really want to tell you: we're boys, as in friends, as in we kick it together when we're not jamming. As in we once locked ourselves in Max's basement for three days during a blizzard to jam and hang out. As in we backpacked through Europe together for a month after we graduated high school. Were kids, not rockstars, so you won't find us dressed up in leather, pouting our lips at the camera. This is what we do, it's what we've always done, so when we say "welcome to our lives," we mean it.
